2018 Inspiration Award Winners
The Inspiration Awards recognize selected employees who are Inspired to Serve every day, all year long. Any employee can nominate a co-worker for this award, which is presented during a ceremony at the Annual CRC Summit.
- COMMON PURPOSE AWARD: This award is given to an individual who embodies our common purpose of “creating joy and peace of mind for residents and their families by providing a better way of life.” This individual inspires by being an example for others in all four Service Standards.
- SAFETY AWARD: This award is given to an individual who is inspired to serve and inspires others by providing an environment that uses training, reporting, and analysis to foster a culture where no one gets hurt.
- COURTESY AWARD: This award is given to an individual who is inspired to serve and inspires others by providing an environment that is respectful, helpful, and patient.
- RESPONSIVENESS AWARD: This award is given to an individual who is inspired to serve and inspires others by taking timely, appropriate action with communication and follow-up support.
- IMAGE AWARD: This award is given to an individual who is inspired to serve and inspires others by providing a clean, professional, and welcoming environment for everyone.

Darryl Iwata, Maintenance Mechanic, Covenant ShoresCommon Purpose Award
Described as always having a smile on his face, Darryl Iwata makes a difference each and every day in the lives of residents at Covenant Shores. His passion for his job is fueled by his desire to make an impact and the respect he has for our residents.
John Haugen, Director of Facilities, Covenant Village of Golden ValleyCommon Purpose Award
John Haugen plays an integral role in the Covenant Village of Golden Valley community, and says he can think of no better place to be than in a business where he can express his faith in the work that he does.
Beth Gwinn, Director of Activities, Mount Miguel Covenant VillageCommon Purpose Award
A passionate woman who serves with her heart, Beth Gwinn shares positivity and inspiration wherever she goes at Covenant Village of Florida. Beth says she loves what she does and going the extra mile is just part of who she is.
Dan Brant, Director of IT Infrastructure, Central OfficeCommon Purpose Award
Dan Brant’s positive energy and willingness to help makes him a perfect embodiment of our common purpose. Dan says Inspired to serve is more of a way of life for him than a customer service framework.
Aylin Sarkis, Certified Nursing Assistant, Brandel ManorCommon Purpose Award
Positive, uplifting, and energized – these are three words that describe Aylin Sarkis and her presence at Brandel Manor. Aylin says she sees Brandel as her home and the residents as her family.
Renee Sanchez, Office Manager, The HolmstadCommon Purpose Award
Going above and beyond each and every day, Renee Sanchez has played an integral role at The Holmstad. She says that while she is humbled by the recognition, she has always considered it her responsibility to exemplify our Common Purpose.
Dani Tervo-Shiffman, Wellness Coordinator, The SamarkandCommon Purpose Award
Using a great creative spirit, Dani Tervo-Shiffman has developed an engaging array of new programs for residents at The Samarkand. She says she has felt it is her job to inspire residents and encourage them to live happy healthy lives while making it fun.
Jim Darlinger, Security Guard, Covenant Village of ColoradoSafety Award
A retired police officer, Jim Darlinger is known for bringing a sense of calm to Covenant Village of Colorado and its residents. He says he loves it at the community and enjoys keeping everyone safe.
Sheryl Burzee, Wait Staff, Covenant Village of ColoradoCourtesy Award
Sheryl Burzee is a well-known and friendly face in the dining room of Covenant Village of Colorado. Residents are known to request to be seated in her section specifically, and she says a lot of these residents are like her extended family.
Lisa Akin, Housekeeping Supervisor, Covenant Village of TurlockCourtesy Award
Armed with baked goods and a smile, Lisa Akin never fails to take the initiative in her role at Covenant Village of Turlock. She says she likes to lend a helping hand and assist those in the community, as she sees that as part of her daily role and responsibilities.

Jenna Doogan’s responsiveness in her role at Covenant Village of Northbrook is noteworthy, as she regularly anticipates the needs of residents and fellow employees. Jenna shows dedication every day to helping others and making the community a better place.
Lizbeth Silva, Administrative Assistant, Windsor ParkResponsiveness Award
Lizbeth Silva’s dedication to the residents and passion for her job makes her an embodiment of “responsiveness” at Windsor Park. She says she always tries to keep a positive attitude and that she couldn’t imagine working anywhere else.

Approachable and accommodating, Doug Meeuwenberg exemplifies responsiveness at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes. Doug says he enjoys putting smiles on residents’ faces and sees his presence at the community as doing God’s will.
Ivette Stone, Certified Nursing Assistant, Covenant Village of CromwellResponsiveness Award
Demonstrating responsiveness through the little things she does each and every day, Ivette Stone has the innate ability to anticipate residents’ needs through compassionate care. Her passion for residents makes her an outstanding CNA.
Maria Dinezza, Registered Nurse, Covenant Village of ColoradoImage Award
Maria Dinezza plays an integral role in bringing peace-of-mind, comfort, and compassion to residents in Covenant Village of Colorado’s skilled nursing facility. She says she feels truly blessed to be a part of the community and these residents’ lives.
